STARTING FLIGHT TRAINING

Good morning ❤ Hope you had a good weekend, mine was very relaxed and yesterday I continued a little bit in weekend mode and thought about my first post on this topic – flight training. I will put everything related to this under the ‘Pilot‘ category on my blog.

//God morgon ❤ Hoppas ni har haft en bra helg, min var väldigt lugn och igår fortsatte jag lite i helg mode och tänkte på mitt första inlägg om ämnet – flygutbildning. Jag kommer lägga allt relaterat till ämnet under ‘Pilot‘ kategorin på min blogg.

Many have asked me where I now suddenly got this idea from, but it’s actually been four years of applying to schools and trying to figure out how I can get into this extreeeemely expensive hobby while still being able to work to finance it. For the longest time I wanted to work at the airport or with anything aviation related but didn’t really know what that would be so the thought was just left somwhere in the back of my head for years. Then at a crayfish party in 2016 my friend and one of her at that time colleagues were talking about their job as flight attendants. We ended up talking about aviation and then one of the girls said why don’t I just become a pilot if I’m interested in all that and since then I wasn’t able to drop it.

//Många har frågar varifrån jag nu plötsligt har fått den här idén, men det har egentligen varit fyra år av att söka in till skolor och försöka komma på hur jag ska kunna börja med denna extreeeemt dyra hobbyn medan jag ändå måste kunna jobba för att finansiera det. Under en lång period ville jag jobba på flygfältet eller med vad som helst flygrelaterat men visste inte riktigt vad det skulle vara så den tanken fick bli någonstans bak i huvudet i flera års tid. Så på en kräftskiva 2016 pratade min kompis och hennes dåtida kollega om deras jobb som flygvärdinnor. Det slutade med att vi pratade flygning och sen sa en av tjerena att varför jag inte bara blir pilot om jag är intresserad av allt det där och efter det kunne jag inte släppa tanken.

So fast forward to last summer when I decided that I’m not going to wait around anymore so I contacted different flight academies that had operations close to Helsinki and ended up choosing to go with Aeropole and to finance it myself. Right now I’m only taking the private pilot license, but hopefully I’ll be able to continue at least with a few more ratings and the dream would of course be the ATPL and work for an airline. That is very expensive though so I’m taking this one step at the time now haha and we’ll see what happens.

//Så spola fram till förra sommaren då jag bestämde att jag inte tänker sitta och vänta längre så jag kontaktade olika flygakademier som hade verksamhet nära Helsingfors och till slut valde jag att gå med Aeropole och finansiera det själv. Nu tar jag bara privat pilot licens, men hoppas att jag kan fortsätta med åtminstone några moduler till och drömmen skulle ju vara ATPL och jobba för ett flygbolag. Dock är det så dyrt så jag tar det här nu ett steg i taget haha så får vi se vad som händer.

I guess other people’s doubts got to me a little bit at first and I had to see for myself that I’ve made a good decision here before I tell everyone about it or post anything hehe. Questions like ‘have you ever even sat in a small plane like that, what if you don’t like it’ made me think that what if I actually will have wasted all that money. Then I decided to go with my intuition that hadn’t changed for four years and now it’s almost four months since I for the first time in my life sat down in one of these planes and I haven’t regretted it once since. There’s a handful of people who never questioned this, not once, and instead got excited for me and encouraged this from the first second. To those I will forever be grateful because they made me really go for it. With that said, hopefully you feel like it will be a fun addition to the blog to read about my flight training.

//Jag antar att andras tvivlande tog över där ett tag och jag måste se själv att jag hade gjort ett bra beslut här före jag kunden berätta åt alla eller posta något hehe. Frågor som ‘har du nånsin ens suttit i ett sådant litet plan, vad om du inte gillar det‘ fick mig att tänka att vad om jag verkligen kommer ha slösat en massa pengar. Sen bestämde jag mig för att följa min intuition som inte hade ändrat på fyra år och nu är det nästan fyra månader sedan jag för första gången i mitt liv satt mig i ett av dessa flygplan och jag har inte ångrat mig en enda gång. Det finns en hanfull folk som aldrig ifrågasatte det här, inte en enda gång, utan iställe peppade de och stötte mig från första sekunden. Jag kommer vara förevigt tacksam till dem för de fick mig att verkligen göra som jag vill. Med det sagt, hoppas ni kommer tycka det blir ett rolig tillägg till bloggen att läsa om min flygträning.
